Guest iin London: A Comedy Film Review

Guest iin London is an Indian Hindi comedy film, written and directed by Ashwni Dhir. It stars Kartik Aaryan, Kriti Kharbanda, Paresh Rawal and Tanvi Azmi. The film is a sequel to the 2010 film Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?, which also featured Paresh Rawal as an unwanted guest. The film was released worldwide on 7 July 2017, to negative reviews from critics.

The film revolves around Aryan Shergill (Kartik Aaryan) and his girlfriend Anaya Patel (Kriti Kharbanda), who live in London and plan to get married. Aryan is a migrant worker whose visa is about to expire, so he decides to arrange a fake marriage with Anaya, who is a taxi driver, in exchange for money. However, their plan goes awry when Aryan's distant relatives, Gangasharan and Guddi (Paresh Rawal and Tanvi Azmi), arrive at their doorstep and claim to be his guests. The couple has to deal with the antics and troubles caused by the unwanted guests, who overstay their welcome and interfere in their lives.

What works and what doesn't

The film tries to be a comedy of errors, but fails to generate any genuine laughs or entertainment. The jokes are stale, repetitive and offensive, relying on stereotypes, slapstick and toilet humor. The plot is thin, predictable and illogical, with many loopholes and inconsistencies. The characters are one-dimensional, annoying and unlikable, with no depth or development. The performances are mediocre, with Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Kharbanda having no chemistry or charisma. Paresh Rawal and Tanvi Azmi are wasted in their roles, as they ham it up and overact throughout the film.

The only positive aspect of the film is the music by Raghav Sachar and Amit Mishra, which is catchy and melodious. The songs Frankly Tu Sona Nachdi and Dil Mera are the highlights of the soundtrack, which also features a remix of the classic song Daru Vich Pyaar from Tum Bin. The cinematography by Sudhir K. Chaudhary is decent, capturing the scenic beauty of London.

Verdict

Guest iin London is a disappointing and boring film that fails to live up to the expectations of the audience. It is neither funny nor engaging, and offers nothing new or original. It is a waste of time and money for the viewers, who would be better off watching something else.
